Two Manuscript Collections from Garut Preserved

DREAMSEA, Garut – DREAMSEA has preserved two collections of manuscripts from Garut regency, West Java, Indonesia. This activity has been carried out on July 26-28, 2022. The manuscripts that have been successfully digitized include Islamic texts of Sufism, genealogy, and local history. The digitization team this time was led by Aditia Gunawan as an academic expert, Salfia Rahmawati as an assistant academic expert, Benedictus Satrio as a photographer, and Evi Fuji as an assistant photographer. Islamic Manuscripts Preserved through Digitalization at Pesantren Tebuireng

A number of ancient manuscripts at Pesantren Tebuireng in Jombang, East Java have been preserved through digitization. The knowledge and Islamic thought within the manuscripts can serve as a reference for contemporary knowledge. The digitalization process was carried out by the Digital Repository of Endangered and Affected Manuscripts in Southeast Asia (DREAMSEA) program, which is a collaboration between the Center for the Study of Islam and Society (PPIM) at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) in Jakarta and Pesantren Tebuireng. Preservation of Palm-leaf Manuscripts in Gianyar Bali

DREAMSEA, Gianyar – The DREAMSEA digitisation team managed to save 68 palm-leaf manuscript bundles with a total of more than 2,000 digital images obtained. This collection of manuscripts is owned by I Wayan Wandra who is one of the traditional leaders in the village of Sukawati. This digitisation was carried out on April 14-20 2002 led by I Gede Gita Purnama A.P. 351 Manuscript Bundles from Three Regions in West Sumatra Preserved

DREAMSEA, Padang – On this manuscript preservation mission in West Sumatra, Indonesia, DREAMSEA visited three regions that have hundreds of ancient manuscripts. The three regions are Padang, Pesisir Selatan and Tarusan. The mission was carried out from 11 February-17 March 2022 in collaboration with the Manassa of Padang led by Dr. Pramono. 351 bundles of the manuscript were preserved from three different collections, namely the Chairul collection (102 manuscripts), Rakena collection (18 manuscripts), and Achmad Kosasih collection (231 manuscripts). 1,709 Pages of Old Lampung Manuscripts Digitised

DREMSEA, Lampung – Manuscripts from the Lampung area have not been widely exposed in philological studies. DREAMSEA is very fortunate to have the opportunity to save 1,709 ancient Lampung manuscript pages from four different collections. Islamic Palm-leaf Manuscripts in Praya, Lombok Preserved

DREAMSEA, Praya – The DREAMSEA manuscript digitisation program has succeeded in preserving 18 manuscripts and producing 1,859 digital images of manuscript pages in the city of Praya, Central Lombok, West Nusatenggara Province, Indonesia. A New Collection, 15,000 Manuscript Pages by Pangeran Madrais Kuningan Digitised

DREAMSEA, Kuningan – From 15 October until 13 November 2021, more manuscripts of the collection of Pangeran Madrais in Paseban Tri Panca Tunggal in Kuningan, West Java, Indonesia were digitised by DREAMSEA. This was the second stage in the preservation efforts to safe the manuscripts in Paseban as they are threatened of becoming damaged. DREAMSEA Launches the Database of Southeast Asian Digitised Manuscripts

Jakarta, DREAMSEA — After having assisted local society to digitize manuscripts in Southeast Asia for four years, DREAMSEA has launched its repository database on Friday, 1 October 2021. The launching was done via YouTube under the title “DREAMSEA Launch Southeast Asian Manuscripts Database”.  From 2018 until 2021, DREAMSEA has executed 29 digitizing missions in various places in Southeast Asia. During these missions 4.274 manuscripts were digitized resulting in no less than 248.291 manuscript images. DREAMSEA Preserves Numinous Manuscripts in Karawang

Karawang. DREAMSEA. The Digital Repository of Endangered and Affected Manuscripts in Southeast Asia (DREAMSEA) has returned to safe manuscripts in private collections in Indonesia. From 23 to 26 April 2021, 900 pages of numinous manuscripts from a number of regions in Karawang Regency in West Java have been digitized. The manuscripts come from five locations of which three form legacies now preserved by the gate keepers at the holy graves of Syekh Abidin Ciranggon, Mbah Ribiah Cikampek Pusaka and Kampung Gempol Bojong.
