Overview

This collection owned by I Made Kajeng Waras Himawan Suweca in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, consists of lontar palm leaf manuscripts. These manuscripts contain texts related to Hinduism such as religious texts, astrology, linguistics, and worship procedures. The languages used in the manuscripts are Old Javanese and Balinese with some Sanskrit shlokas, all of which are written in Balinese script.

The lontar manuscripts are stored in two large wooden crates which are divided into small wooden boxes containing numerous palm leaf bundles. Some of the lontar leaves still have midribs, or embat-embatan, and are tied with rope through a hole in the side of each leaf without the wooden box. Additionally, several manuscripts in this collection have illustrations.
