Overview

Surau Simaung is an Islamic educational institution in Jorong Tapian Diaro Nagari, Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatra. It houses 88 manuscripts that belong to Sheikh Malin Bayang, a local ulama who lived in the early 20th century. These manuscripts contain about 200 texts on Islamic subjects and are visited by thousands of people who come to pay their respects at the founder's grave.
